IHC Movie Reviews: The Three Stooges (2012)

The Three Stooges, a film by the Farrelly Brothers based on the slapstick films of yesteryear is in theatres, and it’s hoping to bring the Stooges to a whole new generation. The original films are a slapstick staple, but it’s been a lost art in recent years. Is this the film to bring it back, or should it be left a forgotten art form?

Okay, so before you lose your mind here, there’s some different ways to look at this. While the Snooki cameo was unnecessary, and while none of this even comes remotely close to the brilliance of the original Three Stooges, it does have a fun and goofiness that made me sort of chuckle. Did the world need this movie? No. Is it the worst thing ever? No, it’s a decent enough homage I suppose.

Set photos from the Three Stooges movie gives your first look at the new Moe, Larry and Curly

The Farrelly Brothers are filming a car crash scene for the upcoming movie in Stone Mountain Park, Atlanta through Wednesday and the cast of the movie was spotted hanging out in the park between takes. That would be Chris Diamantopoulos as Moe, Sean Hayes and Larry and Will Sasso as Curly. And Sofia Vergara all covered in fake bruises.
Will & Grace’s Sean Hayes cast as Larry in the Three Stooges movie

Don’t worry netizens, you can sleep easy tonight knowing that the role of Larry Fine has finally been cast for the Three Stooges movie. And the lucky actor is… Sean Hayes from Will & Grace. Wait… huh? I mean, I guess it’s kind of better than James Marsden.
Hank Azaria will undoubtedly be great as Moe, and I’m still uncertain about Will Sasso. He was pretty funny on Mad TV, but I’m just not feeling it. So when does this thing go direct to DVD? Oh, it’s in theaters? Next year?
The Three Stooges movie now appears to be Hank Azaria, James Marsden and Will Sasso

How long has the casting been going on for this upcoming Three Stooges movie that’s supposed to happen? At one point last year, the Stooges cast was supposed to have been the odd combination of Jim Carrey, Sean Penn and Johnny Knoxville, and then Benicio del Toro was in there somewhere at some point. And now, with casting nearly finally for-reals complete, it seems that we’ve got Will Sasso as Curly, Hank Azaria will probably be Moe and James Marsden— yeah, the guy that played Cyclops in the X-Men movies— might be playing Larry. But who’s playing Shemp? That motherfucker was funny.
