Meryl Streep is full of fire in this new trailer for The Iron Lady

In The Iron Lady, Meryl Streep plays former British PM Margaret Thatcher in what looks to be total Best Actress Oscar bait. The Iron Lady looks like it could be pretty good, but I just couldn’t help but wonder how good Streep’s accent is. From my ear, it sounds decent enough, but sometimes it’s hard to hear the nuances if you don’t hear an accent everyday. What says you, IHCers of the British Isles?

The Iron Lady hits theaters in the US December 16.

In this film, based on a biography of Margaret Thatcher by Abi Morgan, Meryl Streep plays the former British PM. The film comes out in the US on December 16 and in the UK on January 16.

Meryl Streep as Margaret Thatcher is a little uncanny

The mouth and the teeth are sort of off, but cover up the bottom of the face and suddenly absolutely becomes Margaret Thatcher. Meryl Streep is playing Great Britain’s first female prime minster in the upcoming Thatcher biopic, The Iron Lady, currently shooting in London.
