Into Darkness tries very hard to be itself while being in the shadow of its predecessor, Wrath of Khan. It’s a hard plot device to follow for old Trekkies, but newcomers to the screen should have no issues. With the power of the internet behind him, a friend of Daniel Craft, a huge Star Trek fan and co-founder of the New York Asian Film Festival managed to make Craft’s dying wish of seeing JJ Abrams’ next Trek film before its release a reality. Craft was quickly dying of liver cancer, and Redditors pulled together to make the dream a reality. Daniel Craft was granted his wish and received a private screening of Star Trek: Into Darkness. Several days later, Craft passed from this mortal coil. Damn it’s dusty in here.
