Stan Lee’s message to a fan critically injured in California school shooting

Sixteen-year-old Bowe Cleveland was critically injured last week when a classmate opened fire at Taft Union High School in central California. Airlifted to a hospital in nearby Bakersfield, Cleveland was put in a medically induced coma following surgery to treat the injuries to his chest and abdomen, but has since been slowly awakened although he remains in critical condition. Known to his fellow students as a big fan of Spider-Man, Cleveland’s classmates have taken to wearing Spidey shirts as a show of support for their friend while he recovers. You know who else is pulling for him? Stan Motherfucking Lee.

Back in 1975, this was one of Bill Murray’s earlier roles, reading the role of the Human Torch alongside Stan Lee in a radio play of Fantastic Four versus the Mole Men. Aaaawesome.

Stan Lee to be a playable character in the Amazing Spider-Man game

With Amazing Spider-Man coming out this summer, there’s going to be a video game to go along with it as you might expect. But what you might not expect is that Spider-Man creator Stan Lee will be a playable character. Stan likes to cameo in Marvel movies, but being able to play Stan in a video game is a new thing.

Happy 89th birthday, Stan Lee!

Today is the 89th birthday of one of the greatest comic book character creators to have ever lived. Comic book nerdgasm commence: Todd McFarlane interviews Stan Lee

One day, this video is going to be in a museum of one of the coolest things ever. It’ll be called the “Coolest Things Ever” museum and it’ll be just down the road from the remains of Neo Vegas.

During the course of this nearly-25 minute interview, McFarlane and Lee discuss what’s needed to create lasting characters, how to stay inspired and Lee’s more than 50 years in the comics industry, including Lee’s recently awarded star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, the cultural and intellectual value of the medium of comic books versus prose novels, the role of comics in expanding kids’ vocabulary and knowledge, how Lee’s initial embarrassment at working into comics leading to him taking on a pen name that eventually became world famous, the metamorphosis of comic conventions over the decades, encouraging aspiring creators to push on with their dreams and much more.

A compilation of Stan Lee cameos in Marvel movies

I love picking out author cameos in movies like this. I’d love to see a Kurt Vonnegut cameo reel— though you know what still grinds my gears? I fucking love the movie adaptation of Breakfast of Champions, but I really wish they would have made Vonnegut into the creator of the universe in the movie as he is in the book instead of twisting the story at the end so that it’s Dwayne Hoover in that role. That shit would have been mind-blowing.
