After Sandy Hook, some people once again tried to blame video games for the tragedy. Video games obviously weren’t the cause, but they could be a point of healing for the Newtown community. The Sandy Hook Arcade Center will be full of kid-friendly and family friendly lighthearted video and arcade games, without a single plastic gun in sight.
In today’s Stamford Advocate newspaper here in town…did they really have to place that ad there? Granted, a flintlock rifle isn’t exactly a massacre weapon, but still…
After something as tragic as the Sandy Hook massacre, everyone is looking for answers wherever they might be found. In a groundbreaking study, scientists will be examining deceased shooter Adam Lanza’s DNA to see if there are any genetic markers that may indicate someone who has the potential to do something as unthinkable as murdering children. Maybe there might be something there to point out severe mental illness, maybe not.
During the NRA’s big press conference today, they blamed everything but guns and easy access to guns for the Sandy Hook massacre
After going offline and silent for several days after the massacre at Sandy Hook Elementary, the NRA today held a press conference. In the presser, they blamed everything but easy access to firearms including semi automatic assault rifles for the shootings. Video games, the media, Obama, a lack of teachers with guns, hurricanes, celebrities, sports, movies, music videos and foreign aid.
Seriously. Read the whole thing here.
This has been passed around the internet quite a lot over the weekend, and for good reason. In the aftermath of one of the most shocking mass shootings America has ever faced, this is a beautiful, poignant and informative essay by Liza Long (not actually Adam Lanza’s mother), who is the mom of a son struggling with violent mental illness.
Even though each person is different, everyone’s minds and circumstances and lives are different, Liza Long’s story is a good place to begin if you’re looking to try and understand. Also yes, I’m just going to keep posting cute kitten pictures every time I post something about the Sandy Hook shootings.
I’m too fucking angry to even comment. If I were in the WBC, I’d make sure I had a will in order before going to Sandy Hook.
