A 3D printed record that plays on any record player

While 3D printing has come a long way very quickly, printing with a fine enough level of detail to print a plastic record is still out of reach for most printers. A 3D printing enthusiast named Amanda Ghassaei has developed a technique for turning the sound files from an mp3 into a record that works on any normal record player.

Musicians have been remixing and resampling albums for decades, but never like this. Spanish artist Ishac Bertran uses a laser cutter to precisely slice holes in one record and then slice out a piece of another, where the two are then joined into a single physical thing.
