Little boy gets to pilot a giant R2D2, thanks to the Make-A-Wish Foundation

Matthew Grammer’s request to the Make-A-Wish foundation was simple: to be turned into R2-D2. The Make-A-Wish Foundation of Oklahoma complied, commissioning Little Mountain Productions to create a 6-foot-tall R2-D2 which Grammer got to keep.

Cosplay of the Day: Sexy R2 ballerina

The hat is styrofoam covered with felt then decorated with cut out vinyl details, vinyl ruffle, and rhinestones then attached to a headband. The corset is made from white vinyl with steel boning and cotton lining, and the details are cut out vinyl pieces attached with iron-activated adhesive. The tutu is about 25 yards of tulle pleated into layers of different lengths, hand tacked together and decorated with rhinestones. It took me about a month total to make all three pieces.

Philadelphia artist Jenn Hall works at a bake shop by day, but at night, she makes awesome things like this moped helmet painted up to look like R2D2. As cool as it looks, I would be afraid to wear it in public if I were her, as she probably has to also carry a taser to keep the single geek guys at bay.
