Sacha Baren Cohen drops out of Freddie Mercury biopic

It looks like Sacha Baren Cohen will not be Freddie Mercury in the planned Freddie Mercury biopic. It was revealed yesterday that the actor had dropped out of the project after creative differences with the band Queen. Probably something like Cohen wanted way more Freddie Mercury cock and asshole in the film than the remaining band members were comfortable with.

Hologram Freddie Mercury to appear at a Queen show later this year

After the holographic Tupac at this year’s Coachella, it looks like “holographic” dead performers might be the thing this year. Queen guitarist Brian May recently revealed that an undead Freddie Mercury would be performing with the band later this year during a special performance of the West End musical We Will Rock You.

According to Colleen Coover, this page was done by “an unknown hopeful,” and preserved for posterity by the Marvel Bullpen’s Steve Bunche and Darren Auck. Unfortunately, that’s all that’s known about the original creator — although I have a sneaking suspicion that this might be the work of a young Chris Haley — but I hope that he made it into comics.

American Idol winner Adam Lambert to be the new frontman for Queen

With Queen looking to go get back on stage, they would need a new lead singer. So to temporarily replace the legendary Freddie Mercury, the group turned to American Idol winner Adam Lambert, who lists Mercury as his idol and main musical influence.
