According to Polygon, “Cake Acquisition” is a strategy game where two to four players attempt to guide test subjects into “the most desirable test chambers.” As the game progresses, they’ll also begin eliminating expendable test subjects — in other words, all test subjects, including their own. It’s not clear whether actual portals will be involved as a game mechanic.
In what is apparently an all-out goal of becoming the King of All Nerds, JJ Abrams has said that Half-Life and Portal movies are in the works and he might be directing. So he’s done Spielberg and Star Trek, and he’ll be doing Star Wars… if he then takes on Half-Life and Portal, he probably should have a major west coast city named after him.
Don’t worry… Guillermo Del Toro did get permission from Valve to rip off GlaDOS’s voice for ‘Pacific Rim’
If you remember the first trailer for Pacific Rim, there was a helpful sounding computer voice throughout that sounded awfully familiar. Sounded a hell of a lot like GlaDOS from Portal. But if you were hoping Valve had sent their lawyers out, you’re going to be disappointed. Del Toro is a huge fan of Valve’s games and got permission to use the voice, even if it’s not the same character.
