The Pirate Party has done fairly well in Europe, in places like Sweden and Germany, and now the Pirates have invaded America. Two candidates, J.P. Hollembaek of Massachusetts and Ryan Moffitt of Florida, are running for state representative this year as members of the fledgling American Pirate Party.
It could be that the most lasting legacy of these past few months of Wikileaks being on the front page of everything won’t be in the information that was leaked, but in the mainstreaming of leaked sensitive information ending up on a number of separate leak sites. It won’t be about the messages in the memos, but the movement. The future of information gathering might not be from foreign governments but from individuals and and hackers.
