Feel good read of the day: ‘I am Adam Lanza’s mom’

This has been passed around the internet quite a lot over the weekend, and for good reason. In the aftermath of one of the most shocking mass shootings America has ever faced, this is a beautiful, poignant and informative essay by Liza Long (not actually Adam Lanza’s mother), who is the mom of a son struggling with violent mental illness.

Even though each person is different, everyone’s minds and circumstances and lives are different, Liza Long’s story is a good place to begin if you’re looking to try and understand. Also yes, I’m just going to keep posting cute kitten pictures every time I post something about the Sandy Hook shootings.
