Comic creator Mark Millar will oversee Fox’s Marvel movies

While Fox has no plans to relinquish control of its Marvel movie characters back to Marvel any time soon, it looks like there may be some Marvel-style consistency to films like X-Men and Fantastic Four. Marvel writer and comic creator Mark Millar has taken a position of advisor with Fox, to make sure that Fox Marvel movies are up to the same standard as the films Marvel/Disney make themselves. Mark Millar offers a six page preview of the new Hit Girl comic

Now that Mark Millar has done a Kick-Ass and Kick-Ass 2 graphic novel series, it’s time to focus attention on the best character from that world, and that’s Hit Girl. Sure, Kick-Ass 2 had a whole lot of Hit Girl, but on June 27, she’s getting a series of her very own.

Mark Millar begins to accept the realization that a Kick-Ass 2 movie probably won’t happen

The first Kick-Ass comic book series amassed a pretty good sized fan base, large enough for Hollywood to greenlight a Kick-Ass movie. But despite stories that creator Mark Millar and Kick-Ass movie director Matthew Vaughn had been working on the Kick-Ass 2 comic and movie script simultaneously, it looks like as time passes that a second Kick-Ass movie may not happen at all.

Praise Millar! Hit Girl is getting her own solo series
At the Kapow! Comic Con this past Sunday, it was revealed that Hit Girl will be getting her own solo series apart from Kick Ass.
This is what Mark Millar had to say about the new series:

“This is Hit Girl in her own ongoing book because I found that as I was writing the ‘Kick-Ass’ comic, Hit Girl would almost take it over because she was so much fun to write. When I was writing ‘Kick-Ass 2’ I found myself just desperate to write Hit Girl, but I had to force myself to give Kick-Ass as many scenes as possible because it was his book. So since I had so many ideas for Hit Girl that I couldn’t fit into one book, so I’ve just spun it off into a solo title. It made perfect sense. Everyone coming out of the movie or reading the comic just wanted more Hit Girl, so you needed more stories of her.”

Details for Kick Ass 2 emerge from the ether

Just as the first Kick Ass comic book was written pretty much simultaneously with the movie, so is its sequel. Mark Millar is hard at work at Kick Ass 2: Balls to the Wall, which will also be directed by Matthew Vaughn, and is focused on Red Mist’s bloody revenge on Hit Girl.
