Today is not only President’s Day, but it’s the day that would have been the 45th birthday of Kurt Cobain, had he not blowed his brains out when he was 27 in 1994. Or when Courtney Love had him killed. Someone was going to say it.

Aberdeen, Washington votes overwhelmingly against naming a bridge after Kurt Cobain
Kurt Cobain may have been from Aberdeen, Washington, but that doesn’t mean they have to like him. In a vote before the city council, the proposal to name a bridge after Cobain was shot down 10-1. Currently, the bridge is unofficially named after pioneer Alexander Young. And no, the sign isn’t in honor of Nirvana either. It’s been like that for a while.

According to Billy West, Kurt Cobain once wrote a song for the Ren and Stimpy show, but it got rejected
According to voice actor Billy West, who did the voice of Stimpy on Ren and Stimpy and currently does several voices on Futurama, Nirvana frontman Kurt Cobain once showed up at the LA offices of Spumco with a song he had written for the Ren and Stimpy show. Sadly, the song got rejected and there’s no record of it and there’s no record of Kurt’s visit to the studio other than Billy West’s story.

Apparently, the ghost of Kurt Cobain is alive and well in Russia
This guy in Novosibirsk, Russia has somehow managed to channel Kurt Cobain’s voice almost exactly. Really creepy and uncanny.

Kurt Cobain’s unpublished “Empty TV” letter to MTV goes on the auction block
The letter was hand-written by Cobain to MTV in 1993, but was never published anywhere. It’s now up for auction at Julien’s Live auctions, starting at $500.

Delsyd’s amazing Pacific Northwest Adventure: Experience Music Project
