Here’s Evangeline Lilly in Her Ginger Elf Warrior Costume for the New ‘Hobbit’ Movie

The last I’d heard anything about Evangeline Lilly a.k.a. Kate from Lost, it was that she was retiring from acting or something. Apparently, she’s a goddamned liar.

Here’s a pic of her sporting a generic elf costume for her role as Tauriel in The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug - a character who isn’t in any of J.R.R. Tolkien’s novels. Peter Jackson and crew made her up to “bring some more female energy to the otherwise male-dominated Hobbit narrative” which is Hollywood speak for “The Hunger Games made archery chicks cool and we want chicks to see this movie. Also, we didn’t want to piss off the feminists.”

Universal and the Tolkien estate may have a Middle Earth theme park in the pipes

With three hugely popular Lord of the Rings movies and a trilogy of Hobbit movies, Tolkien is one hot property in Hollywood. Now there are rumors that Universal is working with the Tolkien estate to create a Middle Earth theme park. If Harry Potter can do it, it shouldn’t be difficult at all to sell a gazillion tickets to a Middle Earth adventure.
