Jim Carrey plays Colonel Stars and Stripes in Kick Ass 2, but today, just before the big press push leading up to the film’s August release, Carrey spoke out on Twitter against the film, saying he can no longer support it because of the violence.
As Kick-Ass 2 heads closer to production, it looks like it’s confirmed that Jim Carrey will be joining the cast as superhero Colonel Stars.
For his next movie, Burt Wonderstone, Jim Carrey will be channeling the douchey over-accessorized spirit of magician Criss Angel. The film will be about Jim Carrey and Steve Carrell as dueling stage magicians. Stay tuned for a trailer at some point with more info.
First off, I Love You Phillip Morris has nothing to do with cigarettes, tobacco or the tobacco industry. Not a thing. Just wanted to get that out of the way. Secondly, if you’ve never seen it, or even heard of it despite its A-list cast and rave reviews, I’ll forgive you. Poor Phillip Morris had a hell of a road to a theatrical release, first appearing at the Sundance Film Festival in 2009, where it was praised by critics, and then it had trouble finding a distributor and even finally when it was picked up by Roadside Attractions, its release was delayed several times until finally it hit theaters in December of last year to a limited theatrical run. But the wait is worth it, because Phillip Morris is a fantastic film that’s both funny and tragic, both surprising and familiar, that’s not quite like anything you’ve ever seen.
