In the battle over Fallout, Bethesda reclaims the rights, Interplay gets $2 mil in compensation

Over two years later, the legal battle between Bethesda and Interplay over the rights to Fallout is over, with Bethesda emerging the victor, reclaiming the rights to the name and the Fallout series. Interplay did come away with $2 million in compensation, but that probably only really covers their legal fees at this point.
Interplay teases some interesting Fallout Online backstory via email

Resident Fallout watcher Skyn Canvas forwarded me a promotional email from Interplay today that’s sort of cryptic, but it seems to be teasing some backstory for the Fallout Online MMO that Interplay’s working on despite not being 100% legally sure that they’ll be able to sell the game once they’re done.
Is isn’t much at first sight, but it’s interesting stuff. I just wish there was a definite date for when Fallout Online will be coming out.
Interplay Launches Website, Beta Sign-Up For Fallout Online

Despite the fact that the Bethesda / Interplay lawsuit hasn’t come to a conclusion yet, and despite the fact that Bethesda has pretty much locked down the Fallout franchise, Interplay, the original creators of Fallout have gone ahead and launched a website for a Fallout MMO called Fallout Online and have started early beta sign-ups.
I’m looking forward to where this is going, and I don’t see why we can’t live in a world with two Fallouts. It’s just that good of a franchise.
