And now, this is how you de-ice your car in the morning in Poland…

Canadians build a working pickup truck out of solid ice, because they can. Because they can.

Specifically, Canadian Tire, which made a working heavy pickup out of 11,000 pounds of solid ice over a bare truck chassis just to show off the reliability of their batteries. Canada, you fly under the radar most of the time, and then you catch the world’s attention and just knock it out of the park.

Ice cylinders out of a garden hose

Band sends out records made of ice to the press with their new single

Instead of just sending press and fans their new single in any normal format, the Shout Out Louds sent a box and instructions on creating a record out of ice. It doesn’t have the best sound, but it’s a cool gimmick.

Winter thaw in Russia creates a surreal river of ice
This hillside was snow at one point, and then thawed just enough before it froze again to turn into this bizarre river of ice. I love this image, not only because it’s gorgeous, but because I’ve been doing more 3D modeling and rendering lately and when I first saw the photo, I assumed it was just a shitty rendering. Nope, real life.

Icy “brinicle” kills everything in its path in the waters of Antarctica

The unusual phenomenon was filmed for the first time by cameramen Hugh Miller and Doug Anderson for the BBC One series Frozen Planet. RUN STARFISH RUN!

The ice bong. It’s a bong made out of solid ice.
With the ingenuity of some pot smokers, it’s surprising that someone hasn’t started selling ice bong molds. But after this, I wouldn’t be surprised to see such things popping up in head shops in no time flat.

During WWII, Britain sorta kinda considered building massive aircraft carriers out of ice

During WWII, with the very real possibility of a steel shortage, British inventor Geoffrey Pyke proposed something so crazy it might have worked— build aircraft carriers out of ice. Or more specifically, “Pykrete”, a combination of ice and sawdust.

Ice ball mold lets you create your own perfect icy balls

Boring old square ice cubes are boring. The kind of ice you need for your party to get all the chicks would be ice balls. And maybe it’s something that would cure icy balls. If you have icy balls… okay I’m done. ICE BALLS.
