Char Inu: Long Live Zeon and Doggy Treats
It’s everyone’s favorite antagonist / protagonist, The Red Comet, now in fluffy form! I hope he flies around space in a dog-shaped Mobile Suit.
IHC After Dark: Gundam Style
This video is only six seconds long, but it’s supposed to loop. If it’s not looping, go to the YouTube link here and just let it run for hours.

Japanese politicians want to build a real, working Gundam bot. Really.

There have been a few Gundam bot statues erected in Japan over the last few years, but Japanese politicians now want to claim their pre-ordained role in being the first nation to have actual working Gundams. For reals and shit.
Geekcraft of the day: Pika-Gundam
I want one of these so bad. I don’t care who I have to stab to get one, I want one.
Chinese company will turn your cute little kid into an awesome Gundam pilot
Well, not in real life. We’re not quite there yet. But for $275, Xu You Ji will make a 3D scan of your kid’s face and put it into a spiffy 3D animation of your kid piloting a Gundam and saving the universe and all that. $275? A bit steep, but hell yeah I’d do it.
Time lapse video of a life size Gundam being built in Japan
A few years ago, there was a 1:1 Gundam built in Japan, and they just resurrected it in Tokyo. Here’s the first part of the construction of the giant bot, and you can click through the vid for the other parts. One day, when we’re all walking around in these things, this will seem so quaint.
Things that really exist: A Gundam GPS that lets you fight battles en route to your destination

Currently only available in Japan for $45 a year, this app for iPhone 3GS and iPhone 4 not only plots your driving destination, but gives you points as you drive by various bosses and “defeating” them. This is way better than my Garmin, and if George Lucas doesn’t do a Star Wars trench running app like this, he’s missing out.
The Sendai earthquake destroys a Gundam, pushes skyscrapers and information on relief efforts

As it turns out, that earthquake that hit Japan was upgrade to a 9.0 from 8.9, making it the biggest earthquake to hit Japan ever. Which makes the fact that there was so little relative building damage and loss of life that much more impressive. They get a lot of earthquakes, some in the last hundred years that have killed hundreds of thousands at a time and they’ve gotten pretty good at building earthquake-proof buildings.

Shizuoka Gundam time-lapse
This time-lapse video of the 18-meter (59-ft) Gundam robot in the city of Shizuoka, Japan is the latest in a series of YouTube uploads from Gundam videographer darwinfish105.
Standing at 4-feet tall, it may be smaller than most we have seen, but certainly the most impressive – this Freedom Gundam is made of 175 printer pages (yes paper) comprising 500 parts. This awesome piece of papercraft has all the details of the Freedom Gundam, the colors are perfect to entice and the weaponry well it greatly stylized yet ideal to scare most. For the creator it’s taken a whopping two months in total to put this together.
