If you were saddened and disappointed that Guillermo Del Toro had to cancel his plans to turn HP Lovecraft’s ‘At the Mountains of Madness’ into a movie, you’ll probably be sadder to look at some of Del Toro’s sketches for the film.
Don’t worry… Guillermo Del Toro did get permission from Valve to rip off GlaDOS’s voice for ‘Pacific Rim’
If you remember the first trailer for Pacific Rim, there was a helpful sounding computer voice throughout that sounded awfully familiar. Sounded a hell of a lot like GlaDOS from Portal. But if you were hoping Valve had sent their lawyers out, you’re going to be disappointed. Del Toro is a huge fan of Valve’s games and got permission to use the voice, even if it’s not the same character.
Guillermo del Toro is in talks with Warner Bros. to helm a movie starring the majority of DC Comics’ supernatural characters including Swamp Thing, Constantine, The Phantom Stranger and Deadman. Del Toro’s previous movie credits make me think he would be ideally suited to bring DC’s creepier properties to the screen and, more importantly, actually do them justice.
So, the good news is that every time I see a trailer for Prometheus, it looks fucking awesome. The bad news is, that according to director Guillermo del Toro is that Prometheus means that his HP Lovecraft movie ‘At the Mountains of Madness’ may not happen.
