Whether it’s W. or Planet Terror or Men in Black III or hell even Oldboy, I’m pretty much a fan of Josh Brolin in anything. He’s just a cool actor to watch— so it’s pretty good news to me at least, to find out he’s been cast as Thanos in Guardians of the Galaxy and therefore, likely Avengers 2. Thanos is a pretty great top shelf bad guy, and Brolin definitely has the pipes and the attitude for the role.
Now that Disney owns a good chunk of everyone’s childhood for the foreseeable future, it’s all just one big happy Disney-Pixar-Lucasfilm-Marvel family. So when Karen Gillan had to shave her head for the role of Neubla in Guardians of the Galaxy, that gorgeous hair just didn’t get swept down the drain— it was donated to the Star Wars VII props and costume department, where it will be turned into a wig, or a beard, or maybe even a long, luscious, fiery merkin for some alien race.
Fans at SDCC 2013 were shown the first trailer for Guardians of the Galaxy and finally some handheld shaky footage hit the internet, and then was promptly shut down.
Here’s all you need to know about the trailer. Looks fucking fantastic, even in shitty low quality anigifs.
Actress Glenn Close was recently added to the cast list for Marvel’s Guardian of the Galaxy for an unknown role, and in even better news, former Doctor Who companion Karen Gillan has also been added to the film, but again, we don’t know who she might be playing.
The rumor had been that Joseph Gordon Levitt might be playing Starlord in Marvel’s Guardian of the Galaxy movie, but that’s just because JGL is rumored to be in everything these days. The real Starlord will be Chris Pratt, better known as Andy Dwyer from Parks and Recreation.
Pratt was also in Zero Dark Thirty, but he’s mostly been known for comedic roles, and Guardians will be a little bit of drama and comedy.
Marvel’s Guardian of the Galaxy movie is set for a 2014 release date, and until now there hasn’t been much casting news. Deadline is reporting that Joseph Gordon-Levitt could continue his superhero movie career by leading the cast of Guardians as Starlord Peter Quill.
With Marvel’s ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ getting a film adaptation, it looks likely that director James Gunn (director of Super) might get the job. Apparently, it’s his ability to do both action and lighthearted comedy that appeals to Marvel, and with Guardians of the Galaxy, it’s got to be both awesome and a bit goofy.
