IHC Movie Reviews: Guardians of the Galaxy (2014)

Marvel’s newest film, Guardians Of The Galaxy is in theatres now, to
quite a bit of early praise. Seeming coming out of nowhere, this is an oddball property, helmed by an oddball team. In all fairnes, though, Marvel has been hitting them out of the park. So how does this one do? Is it another fine entry, or should it be left in the hands of the Collector?

Guardians of the Galaxy, done in LEGO

Sooo… who’s seen Guardians so far? Who’s going to see it this weekend? I hear it’s the best thing since the invention of the hand job or something.

Josh Brolin cast as Thanos in Guardians of the Galaxy, Avengers 2, so that’s pretty super

Whether it’s W. or Planet Terror or Men in Black III or hell even Oldboy, I’m pretty much a fan of Josh Brolin in anything. He’s just a cool actor to watch— so it’s pretty good news to me at least, to find out he’s been cast as Thanos in Guardians of the Galaxy and therefore, likely Avengers 2. Thanos is a pretty great top shelf bad guy, and Brolin definitely has the pipes and the attitude for the role.

Karen Gillan’s hair has been cast for Star Wars VII. Yes, just her hair.

Now that Disney owns a good chunk of everyone’s childhood for the foreseeable future, it’s all just one big happy Disney-Pixar-Lucasfilm-Marvel family. So when Karen Gillan had to shave her head for the role of Neubla in Guardians of the Galaxy, that gorgeous hair just didn’t get swept down the drain— it was donated to the Star Wars VII props and costume department, where it will be turned into a wig, or a beard, or maybe even a long, luscious, fiery merkin for some alien race.

Hey kids look, it’s the first full trailer for Guardians of the Galaxy

Don’t know what the hell is going on? That’s what Google is for.

Guardians of the Galaxy Revealed in Marvel Timeline
Marvel president Kevin Fiege recently spoke with Empire Magazine on where exactly the Guardians of the Galaxy is going to be placed in all this Marvel phase-two madness. In the interview, Empire asked Fiege how exactly this film is going to connect:
Certainly more than the others. We’ve already said that Thanos plays a part in it and is a character in it. That in and of itself should tell you it’s connected to the other worlds.
They followed up by asking if Thanos is going to be the main baddy, to which Fiege replied:
Ronan The Accuser is very much the main bad guy. And Thanos is lurking above it all. You will learn more about Thanos in Guardians, for sure. Certainly you’ll get more than the one turn around and smirk. You’ll get much more than that!
Excited for this one to say the absolute least. I can’t wait to see both of my favorite comic characters, Rocket Raccoon and Thanos, on screen at once.

Guardians of the Galaxy trailer leaks, here’s the highlights

Fans at SDCC 2013 were shown the first trailer for Guardians of the Galaxy and finally some handheld shaky footage hit the internet, and then was promptly shut down.

Here’s all you need to know about the trailer. Looks fucking fantastic, even in shitty low quality anigifs.

Karen Gillan shows off her new Guardians of the Galaxy bald head
Gillan showed up in a wig to SDCC and then surprised everyone by showing off her freshly shorn scalp for her role in Guardians of the Galaxy. And she’s still cute as hell.
