George Takei announces he’s going to be playing a Jedi in Star Wars Episode VII. I wish this were real.

Just after midnight last night, George Takei made an announcement on Facebook that he was going to be playing a Jedi in Star Wars Episode VII. Sadly, this turned out to be a joke… a very, very cruel joke. I actually got really excited for a minute until I realized what day it was. Damn, Takei would make a cool Jedi.

George Takei is so happy, he’s doing his Happy Dance

After getting over $150,000 in donations for the production of the theater production of Allegiance, a musical about the internment of Japanese-Americans during WWII, George Takei was so excited, he took to YouTube to show off his happy dance. Takei, still ftw.

Who knew a trip to the Social Security office would be so fun? This is the first thing I saw when I walked in.

On a side note, I went to change my name/get a new card and I was in and out in 5 minutes. That was……unexpected.

You know who else liked 4/20? Hitler. And George Takei.

In addition to today being some sort of pot-smokin’ holiday, there’s also a number of prominent birthdays to be had. Today is the birthday of Adolph Hitler, George Takei, Joey Lawrence (whoah!), Clint Howard, Crispin Glover, Luther Vandross and Jessica Lange.

As a fundraiser for the Old Globe Theater’s production of Allegiance: A New American Musical about the lives of Japanese-Americans in internment camps during WW2, Takei is selling this ringtone for $1.50. Takei and his family were interred in camps during WW2 and he’s been a lifelong advocate of getting the story out of the lives of those who went through that ordeal.
