Swedish toy catalog breaks gender stereotypes, and why the hell not?

Fox News gets its panties in a bunch over a J.Crew ad featuring a little boy painting his toenails
The above ad seems innocent enough. A little boy enjoying some time with his mom. And he just happens to be painting his toenails, because pink is his favorite color. A sweet look at the growing acceptance of a widening visible spectrum of gender identity?
Nope. According to Dr. Keith Ablow, writing for Fox News, it’s the beginning of a permanent downfall of the human race:

These folks are hostile to the gender distinctions that actually are part of the magnificent synergy that creates and sustains the human race. They respect their own creative notions a whole lot more than any creative Force in the universe.

Does it matter that in the whole of human history that gender identity and expression has proven to be an incredibly flexible and malleable thing that varies from culture to culture and time period to time period? Aw hell no. Because this one kid likes to paint his toenails pink, future generations will forget how to insert tab A into slot B and the entire species of Homo sapien is headed for a swift extinction.
