Yes, I said female lead… at least that’s what the word is right now on the street. Collins would play a character who is a former drug addict, and is the first one to start seeing the spooky things out to kill everyone and possibly the last one left alive. And yes, Lily Collins is the daughter of Phil Collins.
Diablo Cody says Evil Dead remake will be “unbelievably violent”, Sweet Valley High will be “American Graffiti for the 80s”
Screenwriter Diablo Cody’s got two big movie projects in front of her right now— Bruce Campbell’s remake of The Evil Dead and a big screen adaptation of the 80s teen novel series Sweet Valley High.
A few weeks ago, Bruce Campbell revealed the plot of the new Evil Dead movie, and disappointingly, it’s pretty much exactly like the original Evil Dead, only without Bruce Campbell and without the character of Ash. Huh. So yesterday, Bruce Campbell clarified his decision to not have Ash in the new ED movie.
A first synopsis of the brand new Evil Dead movie hit the web yesterday, and it sounds just like the first Evil Dead movie, only slightly different. In addition to the fact that Bruce Campbell will just be doing a cameo and not playing Ash, there’s one other minor difference.
As the remake of The Evil Dead is in its writing phases, Bruce Campbell continues to be open about the process. The film will be directed by an unproven director, Fede Alvaraz, the script is one that is being reworked from an older script by Diablo Cody, and apparently there will be no Ash. Oh, Bruce Campbell will make a cameo, but he’s not playing Ash and no one else is either.
A fourth Evil Dead movie? Really? Oh yes, most definitely said Bruce Campbell on Twitter. Shit’s real and it’s going to be scary as hell.
Even if the original Evil Dead is 30 years old (Really? Wow.. fuck.), that doesn’t give Hollywood any right to even think about remaking the shit. These rumors seem to pop up every now and again, and it’s very possible that it’s one of those cases of someone shopping a script around Hollywood that has no real chance of being made, but even still, just the thought makes me feel all stabby.
