New electron microscope allows observers to see in real time 3D

The Japan Science and Technology Agency (JST) announced earlier this week that a Japanese research group has developed a scanning electron microscope (SEM) capable of showing a 3D image in real time.
Snowflakes under an electron microscope turn into crystally alien landscapes

Even though some of you might be tired of seeing snow at this point, looking at it under a low temperature electron microscope is a whole different thing. Instead of fluffy white flakes, snowflakes suddenly turn into sharp and beautiful crystalline structures. I know you’ve probably seen close-ups of snowflakes before if you’re over the age of eight years old, but it’s always cool. No pun intended I guess.
