Blizzard had been hoping to ship Diablo III by the end of this year, but they announced yesterday that this isn’t going to happen. Right now, the release date looks like some time in early 2012. I guess that’s not that much of a stretch and it’s better to take a little more time to get things perfect rather than not.
If you’re waiting for any little bits and pieces of Diablo 3 stuff, some Blizzard employee posted a shitload of screenshots and a short video from the friends and family closed beta onto a Diablo fan forum. While he might now be an ex Blizzard employee, it’s pretty selfless to take one for the team.
There’s nothing official from Blizzard yet on Diablo III for consoles, but considering that they’re openly hiring for engineers for Diablo III with console experience, I would say that this is more or less a yes. If you have a Wii, I doubt you’ll be swinging your flaming sword for that console, but Diablo would work really well on the 360 and PS3.
Blizzard Entertainment is looking for a highly organized individual with outstanding communications and project management skills for the Diablo team. The ideal candidate has prior experience in console game development and has a keen knowledge of how each discipline operates and interacts.
