DC New 52 Justice League #1 will come with cover variants for each of the 50 US states plus DC and Puerto Rico
In February of next year, DC kicks off the new Justice League of America series with a bang. Comic titles sometimes have variant covers, but with JLA #1 launches, it will have a whopping 52 variant covers, one symbolizing each of the 50 states of the US plus DC and Puerto Rico. What, no love for Guam or the Virgin Islands?
Guillermo del Toro is in talks with Warner Bros. to helm a movie starring the majority of DC Comics’ supernatural characters including Swamp Thing, Constantine, The Phantom Stranger and Deadman. Del Toro’s previous movie credits make me think he would be ideally suited to bring DC’s creepier properties to the screen and, more importantly, actually do them justice.
The summer of 2015 looks like it will be a hell of a time for big, big superhero films. Marvel had already announced that’s when Avengers 2 would be coming out, and now DC has said that their Justice League movie would also be coming out in the summer of 2015. Oh shit… now if they could then do a JL vs Avengers movie in 2016, I could die oh so happy.
Keep in mind that this isn’t official, it’s just movie speculation, but the Justice League movie rumor mill has been talking about a possible casting choice for Batman, since the DC JL movie won’t be in the Chris Nolan universe and won’t star Christian Bale as the Dark Knight. Right now, the most popular rumor choice seems to be Armie Hammer, famous for playing the Winkelvoss twins in The Social Network.
I think Hammer would make a fine Justice League Batman, and I wish DC would hurry up with putting the Justice League movie together. What do you think of this possible casting choice?
I’m really looking forward to DC’s animated feature length adaptation of The Dark Knight Returns, and now that Michael Emerson, whom you may remember as Ben Linus from Lost, has been cast as the voice of the Joker.
Hoooly shit, this needs to happen. Apparently, right before the DC New 52 relaunch, there was a pitch made to incorporate Transformers into the larger DC universe, including pulling Optimus Prime into the Green Lantern corps. But when the New 52 came around, the project was sidelined. MAKE THIS HAPPEN GOD DAMMIT.
Ben Affleck recently dispelled the rumors that he would be directing DC’s Justice League movie. And now the speculation machine has landed its spinning arrow on the Wachowskis as directing the film, but who knows at this point. Just get Zach Snyder or something.
The real work on Justice League won’t begin until after Man of Steel is completed, but there’s already another big question on the table— who should play Batman? Joseph Gordon Levitt?
Artist, comic creator and Image Comics co-founder Rob Liefeld has gotten shit for years from fans because of his way over the top, hyper-realistic style, and his shitty attitude, but he’s also gotten shit from many he’s worked with, just for being sort of a dick. Okay, a lot of a dick.
A lot of things have been shaken up in the DC New 52, and in an unexpected twist, it looks like Superman and Wonder Woman will finally go from being super co-workers to super lovers. That’s gonna be some serious earth-shaking boning.
Today’s question from an anon is sort of a difficult one, with lots and lots of variables, but let’s see if we can give it a shot. For some reason, there’s a cross-label all-out war between DC and Marvel characters… who wins?
