Google might be partnering with Asus to build a powerful but cheap tablet

If there’s one thing that’s been shown to quickly turn people away from an iPad to a different tablet, it’s price. Most consumers, just concerned about the basics, will buy an iPad over an Android tablet if they’re priced the same. But if that tablet, like the Kindle Fire, is dramatically cheaper, most people will opt for the much cheaper option. Rumor has it that Google might be partnering with Asus to make a tablet that’s not only cheap, but powerful.
CES 2012: Skyrim on a tablet? Okay, that’s pretty badass

A while back, when I first mentioned the Asus Transformer Prime quad-core tablet, I was wowed by its coolness, but also said, while adjusting the onion on my belt, something like “What do you need all those cores for on a tablet? You’re gonna play Skyrim on it or something?” Well, about that…
CES 2012: NVIDIA and ASUS tease 7 inch Tegra 3 tablet with ICS for $249

As part of the year of cheap tablets, NVIDIA and ASUS yesterday teased a 7” Tegra 3 powered Android 4 tablet for just $249. That seems to be the magic price tag right now to get tablets into people’s hands, and with a Tegra 3 chip and Android Ice Cream Sandwich, that’s a much more powerful tablet for the same price as a Kindle Fire or a Nook Tablet.
Hasbro gets around to suing Asus over the name “Transformer Prime”

The Asus Transformer tablet has been out for a while, and there are lots of uses for the word “Transformer”. But when Asus unveiled the Transformer Prime, you may have noticed that it is awfully reminiscent of a certain Transformer character with the name “Prime”. Hasbro sure as shit noticed, and has sued Asus over the use of the name.
With Nvidia’s quad core Tegra 3 chip on the way, get ready for quad core Android tablets and phones

Right now, mobile phones are sort of at a performance peak and it’s hard to imagine why one might need a phone that’s much faster, but for tablets, the sky is still the limit. Nvidia is putting the finishing touches on a quad core mobile chip called the Tegra 3, and the next version of the Asus eee Transformer should be the first to get the taste of mobile quad core power.
Asus Zenbook packs a lot of awesome in a lighter than Air package

While there are ultralight netbooks and notebooks out there, the MacBook Air still rules the market. But that probably won’t last for long, as a whole new crop of super thin, super light laptops are on their way, spearheaded by the sexy Asus Zenbook.
CES 2011: Hands on with Asus’ Eee Slate
There were lots of tablets on display at CES this year, but the Asus Eee Slate, with an apparently perfectly functioning version of Windows 7 on it, able to run (gasp omfg) Photoshop at a great speed. I like the iPad, but damn, it’s just a toy compared to this thing. Must have.
