This has been on my blog for a bit, and I’ve held off posting it here for reasons that will make themselves known around the 3:50 mark, but in the spirit of Open Submission Saturday, I wanted to share with you what is easily my favorite jam of the summer.

NORIKO’S DINNER TABLE (2005)

You better be ready to invest some time when you stick this mother in the DVD player. How much time? 159 fucking minutes worth motherfucker…and you know what? This movie could have been an hour longer and I would have loved it even more!

THE SWORD OF DOOM (1966)

Ryunosuke Tsukue (played to perfection by Happyotter favorite Tatsuya Nakadai) is a crazy SOB and he doesn’t give a shit. One day while out on a leisurely walk he overhears an old man who’s traveling with his granddaughter (she ran off to get some water) praying to Buddha to let him die so he will quit being a burden on his granddaughter. Ryunosuke answers his pray by walking over and slicing the dude’s back open. He walks off. Another traveler (a thief) walks up right when the granddaughter finds her murdered grandfather. The thief feels pity on the girl so he takes her in as his own daughter.
