The only backwards compatibility with the Xbox One will be your Gamer Score
As pretty as the Xbox One is, it won’t come with a whole lot of backwards compatibility. Neither your Xbox 360 games nor any games purchased for the 360 digitally through the Xbox game store will work on your brand new One due to the new console’s very different hardware structure. You will be able to transfer your Gamer Score, so there’s that.
Morning indie game trailers: ‘The Chickening’
Hey IHC, here’s my attempt at the ever stale run and gun genre. The Chickening is a video game about a chicken who shoots lasers.. out of his eyes. Coming out on Xbox 360 Indie Games like, whenevs.

Nintendo to patch ‘bug’ that allows for same-sex couples in 3DS game

In an incredibly stupid move, the Nintendo powers that be have decided to call a virtual “same-sex” avatar option as “human relations that become strange.”
Microsoft announces the next Xbox, the Xbox One

Earlier today, Microsoft unveiled the new Xbox, called the Xbox One. As evident by the new minimalistic boxy design, the One is being billed less as just a console and more of a home entertainment portal, where games, music, movies and TV shows all share more or less equal billing. And as expected, the One also comes with a newer version of Kinect built in, so that ordering your Xbox around to play games or find movies will become commonplace.

OH FOR FUCK’S SAKE SONY JUST SHOW US THE GOD DAMN CONSOLE ALREADY
OUYA UNBOXING
I’m excited to share this unboxing photoset of the indie video game console Ouya. As a backer I got my hands on an early console prior to the scheduled retail launch later this summer.
Ouya comes with everything you need for easy setup:
- an Ouya console
- one wireless controller (with batteries)
- cables for setup (power and HDMI)
The console box itself has the etched Angel List that includes the names of the $10,000 tier backers and their place amongst the 63,416 backers who helped bring Ouya to market.
The controller has the heft and feel of a traditional console controller. The touchpad area works well; although I’ve only really used it for moving an onscreen cursor.
The only out of place thing to mention is the included booklet doesn’t have setup instructions or include any type of user manual; it’s just a safety guidelines and information booklet.
Now I’m off to starting playing around with this new console and see what all it has to offer. Stay tuned for my impressions post coming soon on the Ouya. Meanwhile I’m counting the days until I can play Airtight Games’ Soul Fjord.
If you’re interested in picking one up, you can pre-order them direct from Ouya’s online store or online at Amazon right here. The retail release date for the Ouya is June 25.
Mortal Kombat, the live tour promo from 1996
This is a real thing that happened in the 90s, and people actually paid money to see it.
Guy 3D prints all 32 obtainable items from the original Legend of Zelda

In the original Legend of Zelda for the NES, there were a total of 32 items you could get throughout the game to finish your quests and win the game. At the time, filling up that inventory with books and swords and scrolls and rafts and boots made you feel like the biggest badass ever. And now some dude has 3D printed every single one of those items, making him the biggest badass ever. Well not ever, but for today.
