Battlestar Galactica Online enters open beta February 8

Ready yourselves, because Bigpoint’s Battlestar Galactica Online goes from closed to open beta on February 8. The MMO is browser based, meaning whether you’re on a Mac or PC or whether you’re at work or at home, you can pilot your Vipers or Cylon Raiders free of charge, though upgrades and whatnot will take real cash money.

Most browser-based MMOs, up to this point have ranged from “pretty shitty” to “not a bad way to waste a couple hours at work.” Bigpoint, developers of the upcoming Battlestar Galactica browser-based MMO would like to change that notion and use the browser as a way to have a great deal of freedom and flexibility in how you play. That’s what they all say, but BSG Online does seem to be a lot nicer and a lot more fleshed out than most other browser MMOs.
