Journalist and TV news pioneer Mike Wallace dies at the age of 93

Mike Wallace, a familiar face on CBS News since the 1960s and one of the founders of the show 60 Minutes died today at the age of 93. Well before news became news-opinion-entertainment, Wallace was an old school journalist that actually asked tough questions and got answers. Back when journalism was journalism.
IHC After Dark: 60 Minutes from 1985 on Dungeons and Dragons
Fascinating almost 30-year old 60 Minutes piece that exemplifies the hysteria around Dungeons and Dragons in the ‘80s. Looking at all this with hindsight it seems obvious that the kids who harmed themselves and others were gonna do that anyway. Near the beginning when Ed Bradley shows all the different newspaper articles about the suicides and the violence, it seems so disingenuous and manufactured, like 60 Minutes needed to build up the credibility of their assertion before proceeding, fanning the flames of the controversy as they did so.
60 Minutes: “Prosecuting Wall Street”
60 Minutes gets tired of waiting for the Justice Department to build cases against corrupt corporations and their executives. 60 Minutes says, “Fuck it, we’ll do it for you.” Watch this, share this, and educate yourselves on what’s going on with YOUR money.
Longtime CBS commentator and lifelong curmudgeon Andy Rooney dies at 92

Last month, Andy Rooney retired from television after sixty years in journalism and this morning, I’m sad to hear that he passed away at the age of 92 in a hospital in New York after complications from minor surgery. Truly this is a sad day, and you will be missed, you grumpy old son of a bitch.
Andy Rooney’s final essay from last night’s 60 Minutes: “My Lucky Life”
Last night, Andy Rooney stepped down from his weekly essay segment on 60 minutes after 30 years and sixty years in CBS. In this essay, he reflects on his sixty plus years in journalism and why he’s not technically “retiring”. You may love him or hate him, he may have made you laugh and he may have pissed you off, but he’s a true original.
Andy Rooney out of context is as senile as Andy Rooney should be
Andy Rooney’s going off the air tomorrow and at 92, it’s nice that he’s still got his mind. There you go, the internet ftfy.
Andy Rooney is retiring from 60 Minutes after over 30 years

Andy Rooney is currently 92 years old and has been with CBS for 60 years. A little over 30 years of that time was spent as a regular on 60 Minutes, where he sat behind his cluttered desk offering his sharp-tongued opinion on news, technology, culture and these damn kids today. CBS announced that Sunday will be Rooney’s final regular appearance on the show, and that at 92, “he needs a break”.
