John Carmack demos id Software’s Rage running at 60fps on an iPhone 4

At this year’s QuakeCon, id Software technical developer John Carmack showed off Rage, id’s upcoming new FPS / racing game franchise. He demoed it on a variety of platforms, but the most impressive was when he showed how the game could run at a buttery smooth 60 fps on an iPhone 4 by using streaming textures and a number of other tricks.

This demo isn’t the full game, it’s just a custom-built piece of code specifically for demonstration purposes, but Raid will be released on the iPhone, as well as Windows, OS X, Linus, PS3 and 360 in September 2011.
