Happy 30th birthday to the IBM PC

This past weekend, the IBM PC turned 30 years old. Born as the 5150, the IBM PC was the first home computer that came with a Microsoft operating system (PC-DOS) and was affordable for the masses to own, with a retail price of $1565.

With many predicting that it won’t be long before the desktop computer becomes as niche or as obsolete as the typewriter, let’s all have a moment of silence for the computer that started it all. A moment of silence followed by the soothing clack-clack-clack of a really old floppy drive.
