DC Comics offers to give Watchmen back to Alan Moore, with one stupid caveat

In a recent interview with Wired, comic book legend Alan Moore revealed something quite interesting indeed: Apparently, DC Comics recently approached him about returning the rights to Watchmen. And he refused. Why the hell would he refuse that? Because as part of the deal, they would want him to pump out several prequels and sequels.

“They offered me the rights to Watchmen back, if I would agree to some dopey prequels and sequels,” the influential comics legend told Wired.com Wednesday by phone from his home in Northampton, England. The subject came up in a wide-ranging interview about his Moore’s multimedia spoken-word box set Unearthing (right) and other topics. “So I just told them that if they said that 10 years ago, when I asked them for that, then yeah it might have worked,” he said. “But these days I don’t want Watchmen back. Certainly, I don’t want it back under those kinds of terms.”

Who the hell at DC thought this would work? That they could somehow sneak one by Alan Moore and force him to be their bitch again so they could then make more Watchmen movies. Yes, that’s exactly what Alan Moore would want. Good thinking, geniuses at DC. May the evil snake god that lives in Alan Moore’s beard smite you.
