A man in Durham, NC filed a report with police a couple days ago that a bag containing $36,000 in cash was stolen from a shopping cart, after the supposed owner accidentally left his giant fat money bag in said shopping cart. Because obviously a bag filled with tens of thousands in cash that you took to Wal-Mart is something that’s so easy to forget about when you get in your car.

A man told police that he accidentally left the money bag in the cart after loading his purchases in his car and driving away from the store at 5450 New Hope Commons Drive. When the man returned 15 minutes later, his bag and cash were gone. Police said a man was seen taking an item from a shopping cart, then driving away in a red vehicle, possibly a Dodge Caravan with a “taxi” sign on top. Anyone with information about the theft is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 919-683-1200. Crime Stoppers pays cash rewards for anonymous tips that lead to arrests in certain cases.
