Massive Rare Earths Deposit Confirmed Off Hawaii

If you’re reading this on an LCD of any sort, there’s a 97% chance that the whole damn thing was mined, refined, and manufactured in China. When it comes to rare earths like neodymium, dysprosium and terbium, China is the King. That, however, may all change in the near future.
From Yahoo News: A huge deposit of “rare earth” minerals has been discovered on the floor of the Pacific Ocean, Reuters reports. Japanese scientists announced their analysis of the deposits Monday, claiming the area around Hawaii is especially rich in minerals that help build iPads, LCD TVs and other electronic devices.
The article continues stating that 1 square kilometer of extracted material would supply roughly 20% of the entire earth need for this stuff, which is good for everyone, except of course, China.
