For a while now, there’s been rumors of a Shaq sex tape floating around somewhere, and now it seems that for some reason the Crips want to get their hands on it. The gang has gone so far as kidnapping people who have been rumored to be in possession of the tape in the hopes of using it to blackmail O’Neal.
Los Angeles Superior Court records indicate that seven members of the South Los Angeles Main Street Mafia Crips gang got their blue handkerchiefs in a twist when one of their own allegedly tried to blackmail Shaquille O’Neal. Robert Ross, a former Main Street Mafia member, became a music promoter after his Crips days and allegedly befriended O’Neal. The basketball star dabbled at a rap career under the moniker Shaq Diesel, and apparently Ross became involved in a financial dispute with O’Neal’s recording company. Not long after, Ross began claiming that he would go public with a Shaq sex tape that allegedly captured O’Neal with multiple women simultaneously.
Records from the criminal case say Ross was kidnapped from his Bentley automobile as it sat on the Sunset Strip of Hollywood on the night of the 2008 Grammy Awards. A group of Crips gang members led by a man named Ladell Rowles have been accused in Ross’ criminal complaint with kidnapping, beating and robbery. Specifically, the charges include kidnapping to commit another crime, second-degree robbery, assault with a firearm and conspiracy. Details surrounding the alleged 2008 kidnapping incident have only become public over the past few days as the preliminary hearing has occurred in Los Angeles court.
