Is the next Sony PSP called the “Vita”?

I know, I know… just wait a week and all will be revealed at E3, but the rumor and speculation right now is that Sony’s next handheld, which currently is nicknamed the NGP (Next-Generation Portable) will be officially called the Sony Vita.

And what clues are there that this thing will be called the Vita? Well, there’s website domain name registration, which sometimes is just a company protecting any and every possible future trademark, but then why is the Sony NGP dev site called Vita.SCEdev.net? ANSWER ME THAT?

Anyway, we’ll know at E3, where IHC’s Tinypenguininja will be reporting from the ground.
