Sony Xperia Play will be the first mobile device to get Minecraft

Almost as soon as the alpha version of Minecraft came on the scene, fans began asking when a mobile version of the game was going to happen. Sadly, it doesn’t look like that mobile Minecraft is going to be rolling out across the board all at once. The first mobile device to get it will be Sony’s Xperia Play mobile phone.

Plans for Android and iOS versions are still in the works, but Sony somehow managed to jump in line, perhaps with hookers and blow, the get the game on the Xperia Play’s proprietary PSP-esque system.

The game will be tweaked to deal with the special considerations of the smartphone. “When playing on smartphones you will have a different screen size compared to PC, different hardware, different attention spans and thus the game needs to be customized to fit the mobile specifications,” a representative from Mojang told Gamasutra.
