A gigantic 8000 by 8000 pixel screen is coming to the Adler Planetarium in Chicago

The Adler Planetarium in Chicago is undergoing some renovation, the centerpiece being a massive 8000px by 8000px screen in the Grainger Sky Theater. This would give Adler the largest seamless digital screen in the world, and at 8000 by 8000, it’s twice as wide and four times as tall as a traditional movie screen.
The screen will be housed in the planetarium’s iconic dome and will create a 360-degree experience through special lighting, 20 separate projectors and 45 computers. The Adler Planetarium will be showing off ‘Deep Space Adventure’ on the screen, which will take viewers on a trip through our universe with images will be “as good as the human eye can perceive”.
The brand new screen opens July 8th.
