Ooh this should be fun: Minecraft source code to be released for free

Considering how creative people have gotten with Minecraft in whatever state of development that it’s been in, I can’t wait to see what happens when people get their hands on the Minecraft source code.

When Notch first announced that he was going to be releasing the source code, he was going to charge a one-time $5 fee and gamers lost their fucking minds, and so with almost no fuss at all, Notch dropped the fee to zilch. The only stipulations are that modders may not use the code to create anything malicious and that Mojang may use anything created in future versions of the game.
