Japanese carrier SoftBank is in talks to buy Sprint for more than $12 billion

There had been rumors swirling recently that Sprint was in talks to buy MetroPCS, but it’s been confirmed that Sprint is in serious negotiations to sell itself to Japanese carrier SoftBank for over $12 billion.
SoftBank recently acquired local rival eAccess, and a purchase of Sprint, the third largest carrier in the US would be good for both parties. It might give Sprint a better LTE network and give it a foothold in the global mobile market, and it would expand SoftBank’s world domination to US shores. The exact details, and what this might mean for Sprint and Sprint customers isn’t known yet.
