Star Trek’s Michael Dorn to play a werewolf in the Castlevania movie

There hasn’t been a whole lot of news about the Castlevania movie in the works, but apparently Michael Dorn, whom you may remember as Worf from Star Trek: TNG has been cast as some sort of werewolf character. So I guess that counts as progress. Only a few more years and they might have someone cast to play those annoying bats. How about that guy that played all the Oompa Loompas in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory?

”Castlevania is a movie that Marina [Sirtis, who played Deanna Troi on TNG] got me involved with. It’s based on a video game. People have been trying to get this thing done for a long time and they finally got the producers together that want to do it. They finally got the OK from the owners, and so they’re doing it,” Dorne revealed in an interview with Star Trek.com.

”It’s a fun little part. It’s four days, and I’m playing a werewolf that’s been around for a gajillion years who works for this vampire. It’s not too far from Worf because there’s a lot of killing and jumping and sword fights and everything.”

Now whether that Castlevania movie is the revived Paul W.S. Anderson (all those Resident Evil movies, you guys) version which he was attached to do back in 2006 with a $50 million budget; or whether it’ll be the 2009 James Wan version which he took over from Anderson, wanting to put a different spin on it, remains to be seen.

In the meanwhile, Konami (the videogame’s owners) has refused to confirm or deny anything. The vampire-hunting Castlevania videogame series debuted in 1986 and has produced well over twenty core games and a lot of offshoots and spin-offs.
