Harry Potter fan tries to decode wizard genetics

I don’t know if you’ve ever wondered how people in the Harry Potter series or fantasy in general become wizards, but JK Rowling gave a bit of thought to it, but her answer wasn’t satisfactory for some. So a fan stepped in and came up with an answer as to how wizarding could be passed down through the generations at a slow rate even if it was a dominant gene.

Andrea Klenotiz submitted a six-page explanation of wizarding genetics to Potter scribe J.K. Rowling (which you can read in its entirety here). It was fashioned in response to Rowling’s statement that the wizarding gene was “dominant.” Klenotiz grew tired of the amount of criticism supposed Potter fans lobbied at Rowling, saying that the belief didn’t address the existence of Muggles or squibs. But the blogger writes to Rowling, “I got your back.” “Magical ability could be explained by a single autosomal dominant gene if it is caused by an expansion of trinucleotide repeats with non-Mendelian ratios of inheritance,” Klenotiz explains, before launching into a very detailed, scientific explanation of nucleotide bases, Trinucleotide repeats and Mendelian patterns of inheritance.
