This is what Nightwing might have looked like in The Dark Knight Rises (Spoilers)

While Christopher Nolan said repeatedly that Robin had no place in his Batman universe, it’s always fun to imagine what-if. Figure sculptor John Harmon used his skills to imagine what Nightwing might have looked like in Nolan’s Bat-verse and it definitely would have been a cool addition.

Spoilers ahead…

Still there? Go away if you haven’t seen The Dark Knight Rises…

Okay?

So as you know, since you’ve seen the movie, Robin is actually in The Dark Knight Rises, and Nolan came up with a backstory for the character of Robin John Blake to make it work and make it plausible. I like that it seems that he went back and re-considered how Robin would exist in his universe, away from the 1960s Burt Ward depiction.

And if John Blake were to become Robin or Nightwing in a later movie, this is a damn good depiction of the costume. He’d take a leftover Bat suit, modify it and turn himself into Nightwing. Voila.

John Blake modified a spare Batman suit for his liking, but wanted to wear as little of a mask as possible. Lucius Fox developed a pair of sonar goggles specially for Blake, modified from a pair of spy goggles worn by Selina Kyle. After some training and preparation, Blake took some of his old police night sticks, strapped them to his side, and fought to protect Gotham City from criminals as the vigilante hero, Nightwing! […] He’s made using the body of a Movie Masters Dark Knight Rises Batman, the head from a MM John Blake, the goggles from a MM Catwoman, and the belt, holster, and night sticks from a Marvel Legends movie Daredevil.
