Fun bat fact of the day: Bats have nipples in their armpits
Since antiquity, people have noticed that most mammals follow the one-half rule when it comes to nipples. Humans generally have one offspring, with a normal max of two (pre-fertility drugs) and therefore have 2 nipples. That rule is pretty consistent throughout the mammal world, and it’s true with bats. Bats generally only give birth to one baby at a time, and so have two nipples. But contrary to George Clooney’s bat-suit in ‘Batman and Robin’, bats have nipples in their armpits.
