Daily Discussion: Give your city a better nickname

Cary does have this, which is nice.

So I have a coworker who’s from DC and I was asking her a while back if there’s any good nicknames for the nation’s capital and I was disappointed to find out that the only 2 widely used unofficial nicknames for Washington DC are “The District” or “Chocolate City”… yaaaaawn. Personally, I like “The Deece” or “The Big Deezee” and I’ve been trying to get people that I know in DC to start using them and see if they catch on.

So what about your hometown or current city? I’m sure you can come up with an unofficial nickname that’s cooler than what a bunch of stuffed shirts at city hall came up with. If you don’t know what your city’s nickname is, there’s a huge list of city nicknames in the US here on Wikipedia. 

I live in Cary, NC, which is outside of Raleigh. Raleigh’s nickname is “The City of Oaks” and Cary as far as I know doesn’t have a nickname, but some people call it “Containment Area for Relocated Yankees”, but I prefer “The City of Perpetual Yardwork”. No matter what time of year, no matter what the weather, people are fucking crazy about yardwork.
