QWOP: The most difficult video game ever created?

This is a track and field game in which you have to move different sets of your muscles on each leg to run forward, making it god damn near impossible to play. Was this created as a joke? Who the hell thought this was a good idea? Someone who was born completely crippled who imagined this is how difficult walking would be?
