Sorry kids, Blizzard has canceled Blizzcon this year

If you were eagerly waiting for Blizzcon this year, don’t. Blizzard announced this afternoon that it’s not holding its annual conference this year, but will hold off til next year. The company has decided to hold the next convention in 2013 to focus on finishing Diablo III, StarCraft II: Heart of the Swarm, and World of Warcraft: Mists of Pandaria and the 2012 Battle.net World Championship.

Along with making games, Blizzard will also focus strongly on eSports this year with the 2012 Battle.net World Championship. Taking place in Asia towards the end of 2012, the Battle.net World Championship will include the StarCraft II and World of Warcraft Arena World Championship tournaments.

So, I know some of you are kicking the wall that you won’t be able to show off your brand new Pandaren monk costume right now, but hey… you’ve got another whole year to work on it.
