You can now play Command & Conquer in HTML 5 in your browser, so that should cheer you up

Day by day, HTML 5 is taking over for Flash on the web, and day by day, developers show what HTML 5 is capable of. Like re-creating Command & Conquer with just Javascript and HTML 5 for example.

Aditya Ravi Shankar, a programmer in India, has managed to recreate the original Command and Conquer entirely in Javascript and HTML5. He’s just got the first level working so far, but it’s totally playable: there are build menus, sounds, animations, intelligent pathing and a halfway decent AI. All of this only took him about three weeks (working all by himself), and one of those weeks he had a fever, so just keep that in mind if you’ve got any complaints about features that don’t work or whatever.
